What We Do

Remedial Massage

Our unique Remedial Massage sessions encompass theories and techniques from deep tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, positional release techniques, and myofascial release therapy. During a Remedial Massage at MovingWell, your therapist uses their hands, arms & elbows to work the muscles, joints and connective tissues of your body. It’s not only effective, it’s deeply relaxing and feels fantastic!

Using traditional oil based massage techniques, muscle stretching, gentle joint mobilising, sustained pressure, heat and slow gliding strokes, your therapist will bring balance to your body reducing muscle knots and increasing joint mobility to maintain your health and vitality.

Remedial massage can help improve your performance and ease discomfort. Sessions vary from 30 min to 2 hour and our team of Remedial Therapists offers a wide range of techniques, styles and training to help free you from pain and increase your recovery rates.

SLM

Steve Lockhart's Myotherapy, a hands on form of bodywork based largely on an ancient art of healing from the East. It was made popular by Steve Lockhart in the early 90s and is totally changing the way pain and injury is being treated.

SLM bodywork is best defined as, 'manipulation of the body's soft tissue using a unique combination of acupressure and massage techniques that put length and function back into the muscles and balance the body, allowing it to function normally.'

SLM bodywork is not just another form of massage but a powerful combination of techniques and knowledge that helps rid the body of pain and injury. An SLM Practitioner is trained to know how different muscles in the body are connected and how problems in one area can refer pain to a totally different area.

SLM Practitioners are also trained to recognise when a body requires attention to diet and/ or exercise before it is likely to respond properly to bodywork. This combined knowledge that forms the basis of a more holistic approach to a problem, means SLM Bodywork is highly effective in the large majority of cases.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a therapy that focuses specifically on changing tension in the connective tissues (the “Fascia”) with comfortable, slow, pressure from the therapists’ hands.

Your Myofascial Release session produces a deeply relaxed, calm, state in your body with far greater freedom of movement, more comfort in sitting and standing, postural correction, a feeling of lightness, and much more restful sleep. It’s a great help for people suffering asthma, scoliosis, jaw stiffness, headaches, posture related problems, chronic scarring, and everyday aches and pains.

Feel revitalised, relaxed and find a new sense of freedom of movement with a Myofascial Release session (from 30 min to 2 hours)

Therapeutic/Relaxation Massage

Imagine... feeling completely relaxed after receiving a fantastic therapeutic massage, and no longer living with the muscular tension that restricts free and easy movement.

Therapeutic Massage increases healthy blood and lymphatic flow to reduce toxins and promote more efficient cellular activity. It relieves stress, reduces anxiety, and eliminates muscular tension so you can enjoy life at your peak!

Although non-remedial massage therapists may have received a different style of training that is frequently not recognised by private health funds, we have chosen to offer Therapeutic massage to help with stress levels & increasing immune defence.

Rolfing® (Structural Integration)

Want to change your postural patterns and improve your movement, break old pain patterns and reduce restrictions?

Rolfing® can make dramatic changes in a persons structure (and posture).

By working through a ten session series, the muscular and fascial systems are systematically reorganized enhancing your function in movement, posture, spatial awareness, and overall balance. The practitioner uses slow deep touch and the client’s own movement to stretch and separate the restricted fascial system. Fascia (connective tissue) is the stuff that holds us all together - the body’s support system. People of all ages who have been “Rolfed” have felt permanent, enjoyable improvements in their life with better posture, balance, and energy levels.

Be prepared for a change in your life! Rolfer Su Tindall is happy to explain the benefits to you.

Initial Session Length 1 ½ hours, subsequent treatments 60 - 75 minutes

Cranial Sacral Balancing

A gentle therapy that nurtures your health and wellness by bringing balance to the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. By gently holding and following the subtle movement of the ‘cranial rhythm’ felt through the bones in your cranium and sacrum (end of the spine), you will feel calm and deeply relaxed in a short time.

Used for correcting alignment, imbalances, or blockages that can cause headaches, sinus pain, and jaw pain. It’s also great after accidents, high stress and anxiety, or used when there has been some injury to the head, neck, jaw, or spine.

Cranial Sacral Balancing gets amazing results and is gentle enough to perform on newborn babies. (from birth to 100+ only). Sessions vary usually from 1 hour to 1 ½ hours

Finch Therapy

Finch Therapy is an innovative treatment for chronic pain. It is a non-invasive soft tissue therapy that promotes optimal pelvic and spinal alignment without the need for direct manipulation or mobilisation of the joints.

Through realignment of the body, Finch Therapy relieves the unnecessary stress placed on muscles, joints and the nervous system, resulting in decreased pain.

Each treatment is designed specifically for your condition, and may include MATS (muscle activation techniques), Manual hands-on therapy techniques and Education.

To treat chronic pain and achieve optimal pelvic function and spinal alignment it will be necessary to activate the affected muscle(s) through sub-maximal contraction. This restores optimal musculoskeletal alignment, quickly and effortlessly without the need to manipulate or mobilise joints. Our Finch Therapist Zulaikah Deen has been working in remedial bodywork for many years.Find out more about this amazing therapy http://www.finchtherapy.com.au/

Bowen Therapy

The Bowen Technique is a cross fibre muscle release technique that balances and stimulates energy flows, resulting in a deep sense of overall relaxation. There are regular pauses between the series of gentle moves to give the body the required time to allow the body to reset and heal itself.

There are various schools of protocols originating from the teachings of Mr Tom Bowen, the founder of the Bowen Technique. The healing is not considered massage but rather a non invasive muscle release technique consisting of a series of gentle cross fibre moves that have long term benefits so long as the injury or pain is not re-aggravated.

Bowen Technique strives to find the origin of a problem and is therefore very effective for muscular-skeletal problems, including ankle, knee, lower back and neck pain among other things.

Reflexology

This therapy is based on the principle that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. These parts, known as reflex points can also be found on the hands and other body parts, however, the most commonly treated area is the feet.   Reflexology has many beneficial and lasting effects. Some treatments are gentle in nature, aiming to restore systems for better function while others are more specific, addressing the client's particular conditions. It is a healing process that can be safely used when it is not convenient to treat other body parts. As a non-intrusive technique, it heals indirectly. Reflexology can be a relaxing therapy that works on many levels, soothing, calming, balancing and boosting the entire body.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

The Lymphatic system is a network of fine vessels in your body that collect and transfer waste fluids and material slowly back to the blood stream via the heart. From there the blood is filtered by the kidneys to remove the wastes. Sometimes the lymphatic system becomes slower than normal, or may be interrupted by surgery or injury giving you many different symptoms from feeling lethargic, repeated sickness, to gross fluid retention seen in the condition called lymph oedema. Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle type of massage to help the flow of the lymph fluid and reduce retention of toxins. The most benefit is felt a day or two later when the toxins have been removed.

Naturopathy

Naturopathy has its origins in the Nature Cure movement of Europe and from late 1800s has focused on natural remedies and the body's vital ability to heal and maintain itself. This system of medicine and philosophy is holistic in its belief and encompasses the well being of body mind and soul. Surgery and synthetic drugs are avoided, and the importance of a healthy diet and stress-free lifestyle is strongly.

Naturopathy uses many different treatment modalities of varying degrees of acceptance by the medical community; (such as nutrition, iridology, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture and many specialist tests or diagnostic tools). Naturopath Peter Gourley is available to help you with his individual range of expertise.

Yoga

Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines originating in India. The word is associated with meditation practices in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. There are many varied branches of yoga in Hindu philosophy plus more modern variants and schools. Outside India, the term yoga is typically associated with Hatha Yoga and its asanas (postures) or as a form of exercise.

QiGong

Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice of cultivating energy (qi or life force).  The ancient Taoists and Buddhists discovered that qi can be enhanced through certain practices which use gentle movements to induce a state of calm.  This leads the practitioner into deep states of relaxation and peace. Qigong practice revitalises and improves our mental, physical and emotional functioning.  It frees the mind from concerns and worries.  In this deep state of tranquillity, our mind-body balances itself and healing begins. Qigong is available with Cecelia of the Gold Dragon Academy on Fridays at 1.30pm.
